OUR HISTORY
Deep Roots To A Grand Tree
Our story is deeply rooted in the tremendous legacy of the African-American experience. A storied tradition, the heritage of African-Americans epitomizes both beauty and strength. Arguably one of the greatest stories of human endeavor and spirit, we at Granderson Press are proud to uphold this tradition by sharing with you our story. Established by a mother and son team of authors, Granderson Press Publications is a continuation of a vision set in motion when our great ancestor, Granderson Taylor, migrated, with his family, from Virginia to Mississippi in the late 1800s. From that journey, generations of powerful stories have been born. And today Granderson Press, named for a rich legacy of spirit, family, and tradition takes up the mantle of great American storytelling. Join us as we embark upon this monumental undertaking. You never know just where it may take you.
Our Logo "The Story Tree"
Come and sit with me and let me tell you a story. It is a most wonderful story. Beautiful and awe-inspiring, it is alive with tales of immense obstacles and magnificent triumphs. "Come my child and hear my story. It is a story of you."
As it relates to the African-American experience, few things capture the spirit of that experience more than the tree. Our logo represents family, tradition, history, and strength. The Granderson Press logo aptly called "The Story Tree," represents the connection between us, our past, our present, and our future. The roots run deep into the ground and are often unseen. Above ground, we see the tree, the image of a child, and a rising sun. Together this picture represents our ever-enduring present. Subjectively the child, the rising sun, and the seeds of the tree symbolize the future. Our future (the child, the seed, the new day), rests under the protection of the branches of the tree. The soil nurtures the seed, allowing it to grow into fullness. Our heritage is the soil. The child is reading a story from a book resting in his lap. The story is being told by "The Story Tree." A new day (a new hope) has just begun. The seeds are being made ready to take their place under the sun. One day they may stand in the tree's place. Here at Granderson Press, we recognize that we are , the tree, the child, the seeds, the soil, and the sun. Each has a story to tell, but woven together, it is perhaps the greatest story ever told. It is the story of you.
